Pirates of the Chemotherapy chronicles the struggles and triumphs of six breast cancer support group members, as they cope with their diagnoses, symptoms, and treatments; face death, and embrace life. Schutte’s piece offers hilarious and tragic moments, and has been praised by cancer survivors across the country for being a clear-eyed, honest, and uplifting portrayal of “what it’s like” to be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Rogue Theater is presenting the show as a staged reading, featuring local actresses Jen Birkholz, Pamela Kraase Johnson, Lori Wier, Rebecca Paulsen, Carol Jensen-Olson, Keri Grimsley, and Jamie Buesing, under the direction of Lola DeVillers.
